Do you know that you need to eat a healthier diet and move your body more, but get stuck when it comes to taking action and creating new habits?

We eat for a variety of reasons that rarely include energy, health and fitness. We use food to numb our feelings or to feel something pleasurable but then we live with the consequences of feeling tired, drained and out of shape. Some deprive themselves of food altogether in order to feel in control of something in their lives. In either scenario, most of us don't use food to fuel our bodies, to nurture our souls and care for the planet. We are making short term decisions with long term consequences.

I was inspired to become a health counselor in order to help people make better decisions about the food they eat and improve their perception of their amazing, brilliant bodies. When we eat well and have energy, we can better serve others and thus contribute to a healthier, happier planet. But first we have to figure out what is causing our negative relationship with food, negative body image and why we are getting in our own way of attaining a more balanced life. This is where the holistic piece comes in. We feed ourselves on many levels, food and fitness is a big part of it but so is our career, our families, our relationships, societal expectations, the media etc. These all need to be in considered in order to reach our authentic, God-given potential, yet in our modern culture, we are constantly bombarded with temptations and ideals that do not align with being healthy and we need to be strong enough to know how to navigate through it all and stay on our true path.

Feeling good in our skin is not a number on a scale, it is about how we nourish our bodies, how we use our bodies and nurture our souls and thus interact with and contribute to society at large.

As a mother of three children under 6, I am very familiar with exhaustion, stress and "busy"ness. There are numerous reasons to make poor food choices (we’re rushed, our kids won’t eat their food and are whining, we are tired, angry or depressed) but it only takes a few very important, big reasons and the motivation to change the way we feed our bodies and souls.
